FEATURES & BENEFITS

Introduction

Droplet microfluidics, as a powerful tool for high-throughput biomolecular analysis, has received great attention in the past few years for its capacity of performing assays with volumes of liquids as low as picolitres, especially in water-in-oil droplets. Typically, in production of these droplets, poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS)-based microfluidic devices are used to provide an unprecedented control over droplet size, droplet scalability, and droplet analyses, covering a broad spectrum of miniaturized applications requiring a high-throughput platform. Thus, it is extremely crucial to choose the ideal oil (as a continuous phase) for water-in-oil droplet generation.

Drop-Surf Droplet Generation Oil is designed for high stability and efficient production of water-in-oil droplets with a range of application (e.g. cell culture, molecular biologic detection, etc.). Fluorinated oils, the base oil used in our product, have a range of advantages over mineral oils, including: lower viscosity, better PDMS compatibility, lower drop-to-drop organic compound transfer, good solubility for gases and better biocompatibility in long term. In addition, with our fluorinated surfactant, highly effective stabilization of water-oil interfaces can be obtained. As a result, droplets produced with Drop-Surf Droplet Generation Oil can be stably stored for weeks. Therefore, our product is fully competent in high demand of your various applications.

Advantages of Drop-Surf Droplet Generation Oil:

1.Good biocompatibility with HFE 7500 as base oil
2.Stable droplet formation from 1 µm up to 300 µm
3.Outstanding droplet heat stability (Up to 95 ºC)
4.Suitable for long-term cell culture experiments
5.Instant and direct use without any pretreatments
6.High droplet generation frequency
7.Chemistry within droplets (such as polymerization, gelation or cell lysing reactions) does not affect droplet stability

How to use Drop-Surf Droplet Generation Oil:

Drop-Surf Droplet Generation Oil is ready to use straight from the bottle without any pretreatments. We suggest you use Droplet Generation Oil directly at 2% concentration for most of the aqueous droplet generation experiments. Droplet Generation Oil can be filtered using PTFE syringe tip filters, and is most commonly used as the continuous phase for Water-in-Oil droplets.

The 5% concentration is recommended for improved performance in droplet stability at higher or fluctuating temperatures and high frequency of droplet generation.

It is recommended to collect generated aqueous droplets in a hydrophobic container (for example, a plastic centrifuge tube) to avoid possible droplet fusion.
